The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) General Assembly decided to extend the tenure of the current presidential body and political committee – which is defined by Article 20 of the SOC’s by-law – for another 12 months. The decision was made during the General Assembly’s 63rd ordinary meeting which began on Thursday.
The decision was made in accordance with the provisions of the SOC’s by-law and after reviewing the political committee’s decision No. 10 of August 3, 2022. The decision was approved by 69 members out of 77.
The Assembly also elected Salim Idris as a member of the political committee instead of Badr Jamous, who submitted his resignation to devote himself to the work of the Syrian Negotiations Commission of which he was elected as president.
