SOC’s General Assembly Discusses Report on SIG’s Work

The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) General Assembly reviewed a report detailing the work of the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) in the third quarter of this year as well as its plans and programs of its ministries. The report was submitted by SIG’s Head Abdurrahman Mustafa.

Mustafa said that the government continues its work despite the coronavirus crisis, various difficulties and obstacles, and insufficient resources.

Mustafa talked in detail about the service projects that were launched in the third quarter of 2020. He also talked about the meetings SIG held with ambassadors and international donors to secure support for services projects in the liberated areas.

Mustafa pointed to improvement in security in the liberated areas, attributing it to the Ministries of Defense and Interior’s development of their efforts to confront terrorist organizations and thwarting their criminal attacks.

Moreover, Mustafa said that the Ministry of Defense continues to raise awareness among members of the Syrian National Army about international law and human rights by offering them training courses and programs that are being run by the SNA’s Department of Military Ethics.

Mustafa focused on SIG’s efforts to strengthen the role of the judiciary as well as develop the police forces with the aim of improving security and stability in the liberated areas.

He also talked about the Ministry of Health’s efforts to stem the spread of coronavirus in the liberated areas. He pointed to the formation of swift response team comprising SIG institutions and bodies as well as civil society organizations and healthcare major actors. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people’s unity within the same Syrian soil
is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its
symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes
against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
