Muhammad Farouk Tayfour, the Coordinator of the Interfaith Working Group of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), recently presented the group’s comprehensive work report to the political committee. The report outlined the group’s activities and events over the past two months, with a particular focus on the General Assembly meeting of the Syrian Islamic Council.
Highlighting significant developments, the report detailed the election of SOC member Muhammad Abu al-Khair Shukri to the Board of Trustees of the Syrian Islamic Council. The General Assembly meeting, held in the Turkish city of Gaziantep on November 25 and 26, served as the platform for this appointment.
Emphasizing the group’s activities in liberated areas, the report underscored the crucial need to enhance the reality of these areas comprehensively. This improvement aims to broaden communication with all segments of Syrian society, including religious scholars, and highlights their pivotal role.
Additionally, the report shed light on the initiatives of the Imam Al-Nawawi Institute for Sharia and Arabic Sciences in the town of Azaz. Led by Professor Muhammad Al-Khatib, the institute provides educational services to over 2,500 male and female students at the preparatory and secondary levels. Notably, the majority of these students are forcibly displaced from areas currently under the control of the Assad regime.
