Coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office of Syndicates and Sports Federations, Abdulmajid Barakat, presented a detailed report on the work of the Office during the past year to the General Assembly at its 57th session. The report listed the achievements made in the sports and syndicates fields, as well the difficulties and obstacles that the office faced.
Barakat pointed out that the Office continues with its mission to improve sports reality in local and regional competitions as well as to create an appropriate sports environment to showcase the free Syrian sport on a global level.
Barakat outlined the efforts being made in building sports institutions, in addition to completing the formation of federations for team and individual sports.
He said that the Office supervised the tournaments and sport events that the Olympic Committee organized in the liberated areas, in addition to the establishment of training camps. It also worked on raising awareness through various lectures.
With regard to syndicates, the Office sought to communicate with the rest of the emerging free syndicates such as the Bar Association and the Teachers Union out of its realization of the importance of framing and organizing the work of syndicates. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
