The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee convened a regular meeting under the chairmanship of President Nasr Al-Hariri to discuss the latest developments, the Constitutional Committee, and the possibility of holding a sixth session in the coming weeks. In attendance were also SOC’s Vice-Presidents, Secretary-General and members of the political committee.
Al-Hariri gave an overview on the activities the SOC carried out in the liberated areas to mark the tenth anniversary of the Syrian revolution. He pointed out that the anniversary was a distinct event as mass demonstrations were renewed across many parts of Syria and proved that the revolution will continue until the fulfillment of its demands for freedom, dignity and democracy.
Al-Hariri emphasized that the revival of the revolutionary movement on this anniversary was widely reported by Arab and international media and generated international momentum that affirmed the need to reach a political transition in the country.
The political committee commended the work of the SOC’s offices, committees, departments and executive institutions as well as their active, distinguished participation in the activities and celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the Syrian revolution.
Al-Hariri said that the SOC’s opening of a new office in the liberated areas will help bring together all the SOC’s and bodies and institutions into one place. He also talked about the special celebration that the SOC held in Afrin on the occasion of the Nowruz Day, making it clear that the move was widely acclaimed by our Kurdish brothers in the region.
SOC’s Vice-president Abdel Hakim Bashar also talked about the celebration of Nowruz Day in Afrin, making it clear that the move left a great positive impact amongst the Kurdish component and reflected the unity and diversity of the Syrian people.
Vice-president Ruba Habboush talked about the meetings she had held with the Justice and Development Committee in Ankara, pointing out that the meeting focused on developments in the political process and the Constitutional Committee.
Habboush also gave on overview on the work of the youth and women’s offices, adding that activities are continuing and there are success stories that appear every two weeks.
Coordinator of the SOC’s Office of Strategic Studies, Ahmed Ramadan, talked about the political developments, most notably the US policy in Syria, the UN resolution on international aid, and international communications on Syria. Coordinator of the SOC’s Communities Office, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, also gave an overview on the office’s work, activities and work in the past period. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
