The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s political committee held a special meeting with the chairmanship of SOC’s President Nasr Al-Hariri to exchange ideas on the reality of the Syrian revolution and discuss SOC’s vision for the upcoming stage. The meeting brought together coordinators of the offices and committees as well as members of the General Assembly.
Participants in the meeting discussed the work of the SOC, its various offices, and its executive arms in the liberated areas. They stressed the need to enhance SOC’s presence in the liberated areas and improve the services being provided to the people.
The political committee discussed ways to develop the relationship with the United Nations as well as the Arab, regional and international states. They also discussed the need to strengthen popular and international legitimacy.
Members of the political committee reviewed the strengths and weaknesses in SOC’s performances, noting that the SOC bears legal responsibility before the Syrian people in its commitment to the principles and goals of the revolution.
Al-Hariri stressed that the Syrian revolution will not end with the implementation of UN resolution 2254 as the Syrian people will have to fight a long battle to root out corruption and tyranny which have been rooted in the Syrian state during 50 years of Assad’s rule as well as to build national institutions leading to Syria which everyone dreams about.
