The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee on Thursday held its regular meeting and discussed the latest developments in Syria as well as reviewed the reports of the committees, offices and departments.
Coordinator of the SOC’s Department of Foreign Relations, Abdulahad Asteipho, gave an overview on the results of the meetings the SOC held with permanent representatives, members of the UN Security Council and heads of diplomatic missions to the United Nations on the sidelines of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
SOC’s Vice-president Oqab Yahya talked about the results of the consultative meeting that the SOC held with national, political and civil figures from Deir Ezzor province.
Yahya said that the SOC will hold more meetings with the people of Hasaka and Raqqa, adding that they seek to make these meetings a prelude to consultative meetings leading to the formation of a unified body for the eastern region.
Secretary of the political committee, Riyadh Al-Hassan, talked about the work of the Constitutional Working Group as he indicated that members of the group discussed various issues that are still on the discussion table of the Constitutional Committee. He also said that the Group developed proposals for those issues in order to support the delegation of the Syrian Negotiations Commission in its next rounds.
Member of the Refugee Committee, Adnan Rahmon, talked about the Committee’s work in following up on the issues of Syrian asylum seekers in Greece, Lebanon and Somalia. He pointed out that communication networks were established with asylum seekers in the Greek camps and islands. The Committee also obtained documents and photos showing attacks on asylum seekers, adding that their demands were sent to international human rights organizations. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
