The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee held its regular meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, in the presence of President Salem Al-Meslet, and discussed latest developments in the field and political situation and reviewed the reports of offices, departments and committees.
Al-Meslet talked about the results of his meeting with the French ambassador in Turkey and the discussions that took place on the political process, and the role required from France and the European Union to move the political process forward. The French ambassador reaffirmed his country’s rejection of any normalization process with the Assad regime or participation in the reconstruction process before a political solution is reached, in addition to refusing to lift sanctions off the Assad regime.
Coordinator of the Communities Office, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, spoke about the workshop he attended in Geneva, which was sponsored by the Dignity of Citizens’ Association, the Free Syrian Lawyers Association, and the European Institute for Peace under the title “roadmap for a safe environment for the return of refugees.”
Member of the political committee, Ahmed Tomeh, gave an overview on the results of the meetings that took place in the latest round of the Astana meetings.
The Military Liaison Committee presented its field report on the Turkish air operation targeting the PYD terrorist militia and the combat readiness of the Syrian National Army to participate in any upcoming military operation to liberate the lands from the PYD militia.
The committee reviewed the work reports of the SOC’s Office in Aleppo, the report of the Unions Office on participation in the second general conference of the Union of Free Syrian Students, and the report of the Office of Refugee Affairs, in addition to a briefing from the Department of External Relations about its activities.
