The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee held a regular meeting on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the latest field and political developments as well as review the work reports of the SOC’s departments, offices and committees. The meeting was headed by SOC’s President Salem Al-Meslet.
Al-Meslet gave an overview on his visit to the German capital, Berlin, and his meeting with officials in the German Foreign Ministry. He talked about the results of the meeting and the issues that they discussed, most importantly the political process, the implementation of UN resolution 2254, the release of detainees and the disclosure of the fate of the forcibly disappeared, and humanitarian aid.
Al-Meslet stressed the important role of Germany and the European Union in Syria to reach a political solution that meets the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom, dignity and democracy.
Vice President Ruba Habboush presented a report on the activities of the Syrian Women’s Authority, especially the final conference for graduating trainees in the diploma of political qualification, in addition to a seminar on the participation of Syrian women in Parliament and the laws supporting them.
The committee listened to a briefing by Secretary-General Haytham Rahmeh on the progress of work in the General Secretariat, and reviewed the work reports and activities of the SOC’s departments, in addition to a field report presented by the Military Liaison Committee on the latest developments on the ground and military situation.
