The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee held its periodic meeting with the participation of the Presidency and members of the General Assembly. They discussed the latest developments in Dara’a and Idlib, the developments in the political process, and the military and political developments in Syria.
Participants noted the improvement in the services and security situation in Afrin after many households returned to their homes and lands. They stressed that this improvement refutes the lies of the PKK terrorist organization and encourages the rest of the households to return to their homes.
Moreover, participants stressed the need to step up relief and humanitarian support to the population in Afrin as they recommended holding a meeting between the SOC and the Civil Conglomerate in Afrin.
SOC’s Vice-president Abdulahad Asteipho and Abdel Hakim Bashar gave an overview on their recent activities, while coordinators of the SOC’s departments, offices and committees presented their work reports to the political committee.
Participants also discussed assessment of the political situation, the future of the liberated areas and the options available to the SOC, the importance of refusing to make concessions in the political process, and ways to change the reality on the ground in Syria so as to change the regional and international calculations.
