The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee on Tuesday and Wednesday held a regular meeting in the presence of President Salem Al-Meslet, and discussed the latest field and political developments. It also reviewed the reports of the SOC’s offices, departments and committees.
President Al-Meslet and Vice President Abdulahad Astepho gave an overview on the results of the meeting with the new German Foreign Ministry team in charge of the Syrian file.
Al-Meslet also spoke about the suffering of the residents of the Rukban refugee camp. He called for stepping up efforts to find urgent solutions to alleviate the suffering of the residents of the camp who are enduring immense suffering due to the blockade imposed on the camp by the Assad regime and its backers. He talked about the letters he sent to the United Nations, the US State Department, and the Jordanian Foreign Ministry about the situation in the camp.
The committee reviewed the plans and reports of the Office of Unions and Sports Federations, the Department of Refugee Affairs, the Committee of Religious Relations, the Committee of Civil Society Organizations, and the Department of Negotiations Support.
The Coordinator of the Department Strategic Consultations, Ahmed Tomeh, presented a political analysis paper on the latest developments in the regional and international political situation and its repercussions on Syria.
The committee also listened to a report presented by the coordinator of the Office of Liaison and Military Studies on the latest developments on the ground, as well as the violations being committed by the Assad regime and its allies through the continued shelling of civilian areas in northern Syria.
