Executive Director of the Assistance Coordination Unit, Muhammad Hassnu, gave a briefing on ACU’s work in the liberated areas to members of the political committee via a video link.
Hassanu gave an overview on the work and major obstacles facing ACU’s administrative and technical teams. He discussed with the committee’s members ways to develop ACUs’ work and the possibility of its participation in securing the necessary medical equipment to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
ACU is working on several projects, especially securing testing kits for the coronavirus and working on establishing laboratories to examine the samples in different regions so as to reduce the time the sample needs to reach the laboratory.
He also said that ACU is working with SIG and the Ministry of Health with the aim of coordinating and identifying medical needs.
Hassnu pointed out that ACU established the early warning network in 2013 comprising 300 doctors under the supervision of the US’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the only center accredited by the UN and OCHA.
He pointed out that ACU is still operating an environmental sanitation program to measure water quality, adding that this program is approved by the World Health Organization. . (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
