The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee presented its work report to the General Assembly at its 61st regular session.
Secretary of the political committee, Abdul Majeed Barakat, gave an overview on the committee’s activities, the results of its periodic meetings, its follow-up on the field and political developments, and the response to the issues facing Syrian refugees in host countries.
Barakat also talked about the decisions and recommendations made by the political committee regarding several issues, most importantly the follow-up on the work of the SOC’s departments, offices and committees on a weekly basis, and the communications with the United Nations to delegitimize the Assad regime and expel its representative from the United Nations.
He pointed out that the political committee worked on a daily basis to follow up on the seventh session of the Constitutional Committee, which concluded last week without reaching any tangible results.
Barakat said that the political committee was briefed on the developments and papers submitted by the three delegations during the session of the Constitutional Committee and provided advice as the main reference for the SOC’s representatives in the Constitutional Committee.
