The political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) convened its regular meeting on Thursday. President Hadi Al-Bahra, vice-presidents, and the Secretary-General provided briefings on the week’s activities, including discussions with the Kurdish National Council leadership, updates on legal files, and progress within working groups and committees.
Participants examined preparations for an upcoming workshop by the Civil Society Organizations Working Group, aiming to improve living conditions in northern Syria. They also addressed the situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, condemning illegal deportations and calling on the United Nations and influential states to curb these actions.
President of the Syrian Negotiations Commission, Badr Jamous, reported on recent activities, including visits to France, discussions with the French Foreign Ministry and Parliament, and dialogues on a political solution in Syria, emphasizing the importance of pressuring for the implementation of UN Resolution 2254.
Jamous highlighted meetings with the Syrian community in France, artists supporting the Syrian revolution, and organizers of the Detainees Week campaign. He also detailed engagements with Syrian communities in Turkey’s Sanliurfa province, and towns of Azaz, Al-Bab, and Afrin in liberated northern Syria, including interactions with youth associations, people with special needs, and people with war injuries.
The meeting included evaluation of reports on SOC’s foreign missions in Egypt, Jordan, Italy, France, Germany, and Romania, as well as updates from SOC offices in Gaziantep, Hatay, and Mersin.
