President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) Nasr Al-Hariri, sent two separate letters to the new US envoy to Syria, Joel Rayburn, and the outgoing envoy, James Jeffrey.
Al-Hariri expressed his “gratitude for the leading role of the United States of America as a reliable ally to the Syrian revolution and the Syrian people.”
“We sincerely count on your commitment to continue supporting the Syrian people in their quest for freedom and democracy; and hope that our cooperation continues to be furthered and promoted with the objective of reaching a political solution in Syria that fulfils the aspirations of the Syrian people.”
Al-Hariri thanked Jeffrey for the efforts that “helped in increasing the economic and political pressure on the Assad regime, leading the way in implementing the Caesar Act and other Syria sanctions to deny the Syrian regime the resources it uses to wage war and commit mass atrocities against the Syrian people.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
