The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) held a virtual meeting with Germany’s envoy to the United Nations and UN Security Council, Christoph Heusgen, and discussed with him the latest developments in Syria on the sidelines of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

Al-Hariri thanked Germany for hosting Syrian refugees, its support for the demands of the Syrian people, and its support for the issue of accountability and preventing impunity.
He expressed disappointment at the results of the latest round of the work of the Constitutional Committee, stressing that the Assad regime still refuses to seriously engage in the political process. He said that an agreement is yet to be reached with regards to the agenda of the next round of talks in Geneva.
Moreover, Al-Hariri talked about the general situation in Syria five years after the start of the Russian aggression.

He reiterated the demand to hand over Syria’s seat in the United Nations to the SOC as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
Al-Hariri also stressed the importance of resuming the political process and discussing the rest of the baskets in parallel with the work of the Constitutional Committee as he emphasized the need to reach a political solution in accordance with UN resolution 2254. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
