President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr Al-Hariri, held a virtual meeting with the permanent representative of the sisterly State of Kuwait to the United Nations and UN Security Council, Mansour Al-Otaibi, and discussed with him the latest developments in Syria on the sidelines of the 75th session UN General Assembly.
The meeting brought together Coordinator of the SOC’s Department of Foreign Relations, Abdulahad Asteipho, the SOC’s representative to the United Nations, Maryam Jalabi, and member of the General Assembly, Salim Al-Khatib.
Al-Hariri thanked Kuwait’s representative to the UN for his country’s honorable stances in support for the cause of the Syrian people and for its participation in drafting resolutions at the Security Council to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
The two sides discussed the results of the latest round of the Constitutional Committee’s work as well as the Assad regime’s continued refusal to seriously engage in the constitutional process and its continued attempts to disrupt reaching an agreement on the agenda of the next round.
For his part, Al-Otaibi pointed out that the results of the latest talks in Geneva were disappointing, stressing the need to continue work in order to reach a political solution in accordance with UN resolution 2254. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
