President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Salem al-Meslet, and his accompanying delegation to Brussels met with the Canadian envoy to Syria Rasta Daei on the sidelines of the sixth annual donors conference on Syria.
The SOC’s delegation comprised Vice President for Foreign Affairs Abdulahad Astepho, Vice President Ruba Habboush, members of the political committee Yahya Maktabi and Abdullah Kaddo, and Executive Director of the Assistance Coordination Unit Muhammad Hasno.
Al-Meslet stressed the importance of revitalizing the political process and opening all tracks to reach a real political solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity and democracy through the implementation of UN resolutions on Syria, especially the Geneva Communique of 21012 and UN Resolutions 2118 and 2254.
The two sides also discussed the situation in the liberated areas. Al-Meslet stressed that the SOC ascribes great importance to improving the living and services conditions in the liberated areas by supporting the Syrian Interim Government and enabling it to administer those areas and supporting the areas of education, health, agricultural development and irrigation.
Al-Meslet also stressed the need to extend the UN mandate for the cross-border delivery of humanitarian aid and increase the size of aid to meet the needs in northern Syria.
