President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, met Commander of the National Liberation Front (NLF) Brigadier General Fadlallah al-Hajji in the Front’s headquarters in the town of Jindires in rural Afrin.
Al-Meslet was accompanied by the SOC’s members Yasser Farhan, Ahmed Al-Shehadi and Najib Rahmoun.
Al-Meslet stressed the need for a unified administration across the freed territories, unifying the armed opposition groups under one banner, and empowering the Syrian Interim Government to address the education and healthcare needs.
Moreover, Al-Meslet talked about the latest developments in the political process, reaffirming the SOC’s commitment to the demands of the Syrian revolution for freedom, dignity and democracy.
He pointed out that the SOC had held many meetings with foreign diplomatic missions and ambassadors and discussed with them the need to press for the implementation of UN resolutions on Syria, especially the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN resolutions 2118 and 2254.
Al-Meslet added: We reject attempts to reduce our cause to a mere humanitarian issue just as we reject ignoring the rightful demands of the Syrian people and the main reason for their suffering.”
For his part, Al-Hajji spoke about the combat readiness of the NLF’s fighters, pointing out that the NLF will open new training camps to raise the combat readiness and prepare for all possible scenarios.
Al-Hajji pointed out that Iran is seeking to extend its influence on all Syrian territory, and that there are Iranian special task forces in the region. He stressed that the possibility of the Assad regime’s dissociation from Iran is a total myth.
