As part of communications with Syrian civil society organizations, President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr Al-Hariri, met with the Free Syrian Parliament as he talked about the latest developments in the political process.
Al-Hariri gave an overview on the SOC’s efforts to ensure implementation of the international resolutions on Syria as key to bringing about real democratic transition and paving the way for UN-led elections.
Al-Hariri also talked about the SOC’s work to manage the liberated areas, assess the needs of the people, and support their steadfastness against the Assad regime.
Moreover, al-Hariri pointed out that the Assad regime still insists on pursuing a bloody military solution, stressing the need to preserve the ceasefire agreement and to develop it into a nationwide ceasefire.
He pointed out that the Assad regime still refuses to discuss the essence of the constitutional process, adding that in return, the delegation of the Syrian Negotiations Commission put forward constructive proposals within the work of the Constitutional Committee.
Furthermore, al-Hariri talked about the Assad regime’s attempts to dodge sanctions by blaming them for the suffering of civilians and to beg for humanitarian aid under the pretext of confronting coronavirus despite its utter failure to stem the pandemic.
He also talked about the danger of the plans of the PYD terrorist militia on the unity of the Syrian people and the integrity of the Syrian territory, citing its imposition of ideology-based education curricula, issuance of so-called laws to dispossess the property of the displaced people and refugees, and concluding contracts to seize the country’s resources.
