President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, (SOC) Nasr Al-Hariri, sent a letter of condolence to Head of the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change (NCC), Hassan Abdel-Azim, in which he mourned the death of NCC’s senior member Munir Al-Bitar. Al-Hariri said that he worked with Al-Bitar in the Syrian Negotiations Commission, pointing out that Al-Bitar was a shining example for dedication to his work.
SOC’s Vice-president, Oqab Yahya, said that Syria has lost a prominent nationalist figure with the death of Al-Bitar in these critical times. The deceased was Secretary-General of the Arab Socialist Movement in Syria, and a member of the NCC’s Executive Office.
Yahya added that throughout his political career, Al-Bitar showed unwavering commitment to the principles that he believed in. He said: “Al-Bitar always sought to achieve radical change in Syria and build a state that is based on equal citizenship without discrimination between its members and components.”
Yahya offered his sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Al-Bitar, praying that his soul rest in peace and that Allah grants him the highest reward in heaven. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
