President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem Al-Meslet, visited the Free Aleppo University in the town of Azaz in rural Aleppo and met with the administrative and educational staff. He ascertained the university’s work and listened to the major difficulties and challenges facing their work.
Al-Meslet was accompanied by SOC’s members Jawad Abu Hatab and Ahmed Al-Shehadi.
The administrative and educational staff highlighted the improvements that occurred in the university’s work and its future programs, especially the opening of new branches in Ras al-Ayn and Tal Abyad east of the Euphrates River.
They also talked about the efforts to establish a Council for Higher Education and overcoming all obstacles to ensure the development of the university’s work. They pointed to the importance of separating the Ministry of Education from Higher Education in order to pay more attention to the university’s activities.
Al-Meslet stressed that the Free Aleppo University is a great civilized project that commits to the principles of the Syrian revolution. He praised the efforts of the university’s educational and administrative staff as well as its mission to prepare a new generation that commit to the values of freedom, dignity and democracy.
He also stressed the need for engaging the youth of the revolution by supporting and inviting them to lectures held by the university. He also stressed the importance of listening to their ideas in developing academic and university work.
Al-Meslet stressed that the SOC attaches great importance to the youth and looks forward to making young people the basis and goal in all fields.
