President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Nasr Al-Hariri, visited the headquarters of Assistance Coordination Unit and met with its Executive Director, Muhammad Hasno to ascertain the progress of its work.
Al-Hariri talked about ACU’s distinctive role in providing support to the IDPs in the liberated areas, especially amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
SOC’s Secretary-General, Abdelbaset Abdullatif, praised the Unit’s role as he stressed the need to empower it through strengthening its relations with donors. He said that the Unit is one of the revolution’s major institutions as it comprises highly qualified staff.
For his part, Hasno said that the Unit is prioritizing the efforts to stem the coronavirus and providing drinking water for all IDP camps across the liberated areas.
Hasno pointed out that ACU’s Early Warning Alert and Response Network is conducting tests on a daily basis in the liberated areas, adding that the Unit conducts up to 2,000 tests every day.
He said that in addition to working in the areas of health and education in the liberated areas, the Unit is seeking to support decision-making with regards to developing clear, strong response plan.
