President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem Al-Meslet, welcomed the statements of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, who reaffirmed his country’s rejection of normalization of ties with the Assad regime and its return to the Arab League.
Al-Meslet stressed that the firm positions of the Emir of Qatar and Qatari people will forever be highly appreciated by the Syrian people who are still struggling to regain freedom, dignity and democracy.
Al-Meslet reiterated the pivotal role of the State of Qatar in supporting the Syrian people in their struggle for freedom, dignity and justice. He also commended Qatar’s vital role in the political and diplomatic process as capable of moving a solution in Syria forward and contributing to pushing the international and Arab communities towards implementing UN Security Council resolutions, especially resolutions 2118 and 2254.
In a interview with the French newspaper, Le Point, Sheikh Tamim stressed the need to work seriously to find a solution in Syria, warning that delaying this might lead to dire consequences. He denounced the international community’s acceptance so far that “a leader commits massacres against his people and forces millions of refugees from his country.
