The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Supreme Hajj Committee met with members of civil society organizations concerned with the affairs of Syrian Hajj to discuss the latest developments in Hajj and preparations for the next season.
The meeting brought together Chairman of the Supervisory Committee, Safwan Jandali, Hajj Director Samer Bayrakdar, members of the executive councils of the Syrian Hajj Workers Union, the Association of Syrian Hajj Campaigns, and the Association of Syrian Hajj Guides.
Participants stressed the need to strengthen cooperation and honest competition among the various organizations in order serve the interest of pilgrims and provide them with the best services.
They also stressed the need to appoint qualified administrators and a complete separation between the issue of administrators’ contracting with heads of groups and their affiliation or non-affiliation with civil society organizations, adding that those who violate this rule will be subjected to penalties.
They agreed to issue instructions prohibiting the printing of the names or logos of organizations on the stuff and gifts of pilgrims. They also suggested forming a higher council that would include representatives of organizations with the aim of coordinating efforts. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
