Coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office of Syndicates and Unions, Abdul Majeed Barakat, submitted the annual report on the work of the Office to the political committee. The report detailed the activities carried out by the Office, especially the Syrian National Olympic Committee’s activities in the liberated areas.
Barakat stressed that the Office continues to seek to institutionalize sports activities and unify free Syrian athletes by forming sports federations for team sports, as well as to qualify a staff of coaches, referees and athletes in various games.
Barakat stressed the importance of promoting free Syrian sports and organizing professional sports, pointing to the need for an inclusive sports body that comprises Syrian athletes in the liberated areas and outside Syria.
Moreover, Barakat talked about the Committee’s running of training courses for a host of trainees and its holding of seminars and medical sports lectures.
Barakat also gave an overview on the plans of the Syndicates and Unions Office and the Olympic Committee to build a professional sports base and to qualify staff for various sports in the liberated areas.
He pointed to the importance of supporting free Syrian unions and enabling them to play their role in organizing work, stressing that the Office continues to communicate with and support existing unions. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
