Coordinator of the Syrian National Coalition’s Department of Foreign Relations, Abdel Ahad Seifo said that the Assad regime’s delegation to Geneva is trying to politicize the work of the Constitutional Committee and take it out of its mandate with the aim of procrastinating and wasting time.
The Assad regime’s strategy of stalling and refusing to engage seriously in the constitutional process demonstrated its fear of the work of the Constitutional Committee. “The Assad regime literally panics whenever it hears the words ‘constitution’ and ‘elections’,” Steifo said.
The Assad regime’s insistence on pursuing a military solution, the use of violence, and the commission of war crimes is part of his strategy to undermine the work of the Constitutional Committee and the efforts to launch the political process, Steifo added.
He stressed that the regime feeds on criminality and chaos, it therefore seeks to impede the work of the Constitutional Committee and undermine all efforts to put the interests of the Syrian people above everything else. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
