Vice-president of Syrian Coalition Abdul Ahad Steifo said that the Coalition is working on a new strategy for the Syrian revolution to counter the Assad regime in consultation with political, military and civil opposition bodies. He pointed out that the new strategy is needed to deal with the large-scale support the Assad regime receives from its allies.
Steifo said that the new strategy will have self-reliance at its core, adding that it will be aimed at reviving the civil character of the revolution and stressing the values and principles it is based on.
At a press conference held on December 10, President of the Syrian Coalition Anas Abdah said that the Coalition is in the process of developing a new strategy for the Syrian revolution on the political and military levels. He added that the Coalition is developing plans to form a unified political institution as well as a national army to protect the gains of the revolution and meet the Syrian people’s demands for freedom and dignity.
Steifo stressed the need to revive the Syrian identity through an inclusive national project. He added that the Syrian revolution aims to end injustice, tyranny and authoritarianism and to build a civil, pluralistic, and democratic state that safeguards the dignity of all its citizens.
“We will not accept any group whose ideas contravene the principles of the Syrian civil state,” Steifo said, adding that “the current events and latest developments should be used to put the Syrian revolution back on the right path.” (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Office)
