Early morning, pro-Assad forces pounded the district of Douma in Eastern Ghouta with rockets and mortar shells, killing and injuring dozens of civilians. Assad’s air force bombed the town of Al Bab northeast of Aleppo and Inkhil and Dael in rural Dara’a.
Spokesman for the Syrian Coalition Salem al-Meslet condemns the Assad regime’s deliberate attacks on residential areas, schools, and hospitals.
Meslet stresses that the Syrian Coalition condemns targeting of civilian regardless of who does this, reaffirming the Syrian Coalition’s commitment to the relevant international conventions and treaties. “The regime’s military sites will remain a legitimate target for rebels, as they are the source of terrorism and destruction. Moreover, the rebels’ top priority was and will remain defending civilians everywhere,” Meslet added.
He also said that the Syrian Coalition and the FSA are fully committed to international treaties, pointing out that “we condemn any violation of the Geneva Convention and other laws and treaties guaranteeing human rights.
