The Syrian Coalition highly lauds the rebels’ liberalization of the town of Ariha and the surrounding towns and villages in Idlib province, stressing that these spectacular gains comes as a continuation of a series of victories on the road to the liberation of all Syrian territory.
Spokesman for the Syrian Coalition Salem al-Meslet said that these gains impose new reality that the international community and Arab countries must take into consideration to pave the way for full political transition and then the rebuilding of Syria as a civil democratic state.
He states that Ariha’s swift liberation signals the Assad regime’s inevitable downfall, warning that the Assad regime may carry out vengeful attacks against civilians. “We have already seen that when the regime begins to crack under strain it retaliates by launching frenzied attacks on civilians using barrel bombs, chemical weapons, and recently naval mines. The more the situation of the Assad regime becomes desperate, the more savagely it retaliates in implementation of the scorched earth policy that is aimed primarily at thwarting any attempts to establish stable and secure areas under rebel administration.”
Meslet renews confidence in the forces of the revolution that defend civilians and abide by the principles of the revolution and its morals and respect international conventions, while at the same time reiterates the Syrian Coalition’s adherence to the principles and goals of the revolution.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
