Badr Jamous, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition, said that “Assad’s increasing reliance on Hezbollah and other sectarian militias he imports from Iran and Iraq as indisputable proof of his growing weakness.” Jamous criticizes the world’s silence towards reports about the arrival of 1500 foreign militants to back Assad’s forces in Dara’a province. “Such practices reflect the insistence of Hezbollah and the Iranian regime to turn the popular uprising in Syria into a sectarian war, wreaking havoc not only in Syria, but in the whole region. Therefore the international community should pressure the regimes responsible for sending these militias for the immediate withdrawal out all Syrian territory.” Commenting on statements reported by Fars News Agency that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s threatened to send 130,000 militants of the Basij organization to Syria to fight alongside regime forces, and to create a Syrian version of Hezbollah, Jamous said that this announcement shows that Syria is currently subject to sectarian occupation. Iran is using Bashar al-Assad and his gang as one of their military arms to implements its project in the region. Moreover, this a formal recognition by the Iranians that they are the primary source of terrorism. This also proves what we said the beginning, that the Iranian regime represents the largest part of the problem. Strangely enough, no serious steps or even a condemnation, were taken in response to Iran’s and Hezbollah intervention in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
