Syrian Coalition: Assad Regime Creates Pretexts For Blocking Relief Aid To The Besieged Areas.

Fayez Sarah, a member of the Syrian Coalition, slammed the Assad regime and its allies on insisting on blocking the entry of relief and humanitarian aid to the besieged areas under the pretext that it may end up in the hands of “terrorist groups.” Sarah stressed that “the Assad regime and his Russian ally have been fabricating these pretexts seeking to suppress the popular uprising and to continue committing crimes, especially since all besieged are residential neighborhoods and not military zones.” Furthermore, Sarah lampooned the regime’s narrative that demonstrations coming out in Yarmouk Camp and Daraya are terrorist acts carried out by insurgent groups.” Sarah also said that the regime escalation of atrocities in Yarmouk Camp and Daraya and the use of toxic gas against the population represents a “direct response to the decisions made at the of Friends of Syria meeting in Paris, which condemned the regime’s crimes and the use of barrel bombs and prohibited weapons against the Syrian people.” The Coalition member points out that “we must realize that political statements of regime allies should not be isolated from the work carried out by the Assad regime.” Moreover, Sarah denounced “the policy of starvation and destruction pursued by the regime and its Russian and the Iranian allies, in an attempt to subjugate the Syrian people, and the use of siege as a political card to pressure the opposition to not attend Geneva II.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people’s unity within the same Syrian soil
is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its
symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes
against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
