Anas Aeirot, member of the political committee, hails the gains the rebels have been making lately, pointing out that the Assad regime has suffered heavy losses in many areas of Syria. Aeirot cited the losses suffered by regime forces lately in Qalamoun and Aleppo. “The tide has turned in Aleppo, and rebels now are making a push on regime positions near the city after they used to repel the regime’s push on the city. Regime forces have also been suffering losses in Zabadani in rural Damascus. The Assad regime has lost at least 1,000 mean since Assad made his inaugural speech last week, among the killed are 300 in the town of Morek alone. The Assad regime is retaliating by targeting civilians, as more than 200 civilians, including women and children, were killed by the regime’s bombardment over the past few days. The Assad regime is trying desperately to attract new recruits to counterbalance the losses it has been suffering.” Aeirot calls for the young not to join the forces of the Assad regime, which will use them only to prolong his stay in power. He also calls on the international community to intervene to protect civilians and end the bloodshed, and also to not forget the detainees in the prisons of the Assad regime, pointing to the release of weekly lists of names of the detainees who were killed under torture in Assad prisons. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said yesterday that 1,769 people were killed since Assad made his inaugural speech on July 16, including 803 pro-regime militants, and 13 Hezbollah and Shiite fighters.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
