Khalid Nasser, member of the political committee, said that the Assad regime’s aggression on the Jordanian border is “an obvious attempt to export the crisis to neighboring countries and create instability in the region. The Assad regime is trying to shuffle the political and military cards in the hope of relieving some of the pressure it has been put under.” Nasser also said that the Assad regime may deny reports by Jordan Television that “Jordan’s Air Force destroyed armored vehicles belonging to the Assad regime while they were trying to cross the border” and may blame this incident on “terrorists.” We believe that the Jordanian government may show self-restraint, but in the event of a repeat of this aggression by the Assad regime, Jordan will most likely resort to the UN Security Council to hold this criminal regime accountable.” In response to the announcement of the Chairman of the Syrian Parliament that the date of the presidential elections will be set next week, Nasser Said that “the embattled Assad regime tries through this announcement to suggest that things in Syria have returned to normal, taking advantage of the unlimited support from its Russian and Iranian allies and of the absence of deterrent action by the international community.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
