The Syrian Coalition calls for enforcing the UN Security Council resolution 2165 to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in the besieged areas.
In a press statement released today, the Syrian Coalition urged the international community and host countries to work more effectively to improve the living conditions in refugee camps. It also called for help to the Syrian refugees to enable them to cope with the harsh winter conditions, stressing the responsibility of the international community to provide the refugee camps with means of heating, food and medical aid.
The Syrian Coalition mentioned the tragic conditions experienced by the Syrian refugees in Lebanon. According to a United Nations report issued yesterday, 70% of Syrian refugees in Lebanon live below the poverty line. The report warned that Syrian refugees in Lebanon have become heavily indebted after almost all their savings have run out. The report highlighted the need to address the needs of children as they are the most vulnerable group.
The Syrian Coalition stressed the need to give serious consideration to the points underscored by the report; particularly with regard to the need to meet the refugees needs and the needs of displaced Syrians, especially children, who are the most affected group.
Moreover, the Syrian Coalition stressed that the consequences of Assad’s crimes against the Syrian people cannot be overcome by adopting haphazard solutions, but they require taking radical measures to ensure the return of refugees to their homes. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
