The Syrian Coalition calls for opening safe corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged areas in Syria and for the immediate implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions 2165 and 2139 concerning the entry of aid convoys and medical supplies to all besieged areas in Syria without the need to obtain the approval of the Assad regime. Salem al-Meslet, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, said that “nearly three months have passed since these UN resolutions were passed but wide areas in East and West Ghouta, southern Damascus and Homs are still suffering from suffocating siege as these resolutions were only partially implemented.” The Syrian Coalition’s calls come in light of the lack of any tangible measures aimed at alleviating the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged areas which suffer from the spread of epidemics and shortages of food and medical supplies. The suffering is expected to worsen with the approach of winter, add to this the constant indiscriminate shelling by regime forces on the besieged areas.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
