Alia Mansour, member of the political committee, calls on the Lebanese government to protect Syrian refugees following a string of sectarian attacks countrywide. “The Lebanese government must react to attempts by some Lebanese political entities to instigate violence against Syrian refugees with the aim of achieving political ends at the expense of security and stability in Lebanon and the region in general,” Mansour said. “Hezbollah and its allies, most notably Michel Aoun, are seeking to portray all Syrians as terrorists following ISIS’s beheading of a Lebanese soldier during clashes in the border town of Arsal.” Mansour attributes the rising tension in Lebanon and the wave of sectarian violence to Hezbollah’s intervention in Syria to aid the Assad regime in its brutal war on the Syrian people without the slightest regard for the disastrous repercussions this intervention would bring about in the region.” Mansour calls on the armed groups that are detaining the Lebanese soldiers to immediately release them, noting that “such behavior is alien to the principles of the Syrian revolution, and only serves only to promote the agenda of hatred that Hezbollah is seeking to sown in the region. The battle cannot and will never be turned against Lebanon, and will remain directed against the Assad regime and its allies. Creating new enemies will only serve the interests of Assad and his associates.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
