On the fifth anniversary of the Syrian revolution, the Syrian Coalition called upon all Syrians to rally around the revolution as an all-inclusive umbrella for all Syrians. The Coalition stressed that the protests that took to the streets over the past few days are a continuation of the demonstrations that started on the first day of the revolution.
“The demonstrations held over the past few days sent a clear message represented by raising the flag of the revolution across Syria. Raising only the revolution’s flag, the Syrian people have reaffirmed commitment to their legitimate demands and their firm belief in this flag as a symbol for freedom and salvation from all forms of injustice and tyranny,” the Coalition added.
The Coalition went on to say that “Syrians are living today a new March invigorated by the many beacons of hope that has begun to flare up recently after five years of unspeakable suffering. Despite the death, destruction, detention, and siege, Syrians have now imposed a new reality, the reality that they have sought against all the odds.”
“The past five years, though laden with immense hardships, have revealed the true nature of the Syrian people. With as much dignity and courage they could muster, Syrian women and men have once again demonstrated deep awareness of their goals and how to achieve them. They are now more aware of the reasons delaying victory, mainly the brutality of the Assad regime and the terrorist organizations.”
The Coalition also said: “Our only choice is to remain determined to reclaim our rights for which we have risen up. Remaining true to the goals and the principles of the Syrian revolution is the greatest tribute we can pay to our fallen heroes.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
