Badr Jamous, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition, calls on the UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to take a binding decision to neutralize the Assad regime’s air force. “The indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians and the destruction of entire populated areas must come to an end. For three consecutive days, the town of Douma has been under heavy bombardment. Yesterday, a crowded public market in the town was hit by Assad’s aerial forces, killing eight civilians including three children. As medics and residents rushed to the scene to offer help, regime forces fired a mortar shell killing and injuring many more civilians. In stark breach of the Geneva Conventions, the Assad regime continues to systematically shell residential buildings, schools, mosques, churches, hospitals, and relief stores. The Syrian Coalition condemns the regime’s bombardment of civilian populations. It renews its call on the Security Council to take firm action and adopt a resolution that would see the Assad regime’s air force neutralized. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
