Badr Jamous, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition, said that the Syrian people have lost hope in the international community due to its passiveness and inaction towards Assad’s crimes against Syrian people during a meeting with senior staff of the Foreign Relations Committee of the U.S. Congress. He also said that the file of refugees and their increasing suffering would not be solved in the absence of direct intervention and loss of interest in their suffering. Both sides also discussed the internal situation in Syria, especially in Homs and Aleppo. Jamous pointed to the services provided by local councils and international relief organizations to the needy people inside Syrian. The delegation of the Syrian Coalition also included members of the political committee headed by Farouk Tayfur and Nora Al Ameer and other members of the Syrian Coalition. Hadi Bahra, secretary of the political committee, said that “this meeting is aimed at raising the level of communication with the U.S Congress and the U.S public opinion.” A delegation from the Syrian Coalition visited Washington last month, while a delegation headed by Ahmad Jarba, president of the Syrian Coalition, is going to visit Washington early next month. Bahra also said that “a lot of work needs to be done to explain our cause in front of the Western public opinion. At the end of the meeting the delegation of the Syrian Coalition called on the Congressional delegation to adopt “a strong and clear position to deter the barbaric Assad regime and to increase military and civilian support for the Syrian Revolution.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
