Spokesman for the Syrian Coalition Salem al-Meslet said that the Assad regime and ISIS use civilians as human shields in residential areas and the battlefields. “The news flowing from Al-Hasaka city are disturbing and shocking as civilians are trapped between two parties that are competing in terrorizing residents of the city. As the Assad regime and ISIS are battling for control of the city, civilians have become stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Meslet condemns ISIS’s horrific massacres against the Kurds in the town of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani), stressing that the continued paralysis at the international level and the delay in putting an end to the atrocities of the Assad regime and extremist groups will aggravate the situation even further.
“ISIS’s renewed push on the town of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) provides yet another proof of the failure of the international coalition’s strategy to contain this extremist organization,” Meslet said.
“The Syrian Coalition, while it stands beside the people of Al-Hasaka and Ayn al-Arab in these difficult circumstances, stresses that the resolve of Syria’s rebel fighters will not wane until the aspirations of the Syrians for freedom, justice and dignity are achieved. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
