The Syrian Coalition’s Media Office condemned an attempt to assassinate media activist Zahir Sharqat in Gaziantep on Sunday. Sharqat survived the assassination attempt but now is in a critical condition. The Coalition wished him a speedy recovery.
Sharqat, known for his strong opposition to the Assad regime and ISIS, was severely injured when a gunman with a silenced pistol shot him in the head on Sunday.
Sharqat is a producer and TV presenter at Aleppo Today TV channel. He served as the head of the provincial council in his hometown of al-Bab in Aleppo province. He also worked in the revolutionary, media, relief and military fields while in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
