The Syrian Coalition condemns the suicide bombings that took place in Jabal Mohsen, northern Lebanon, describing it as a cowardly act and a dreadful crime. Salem al-Meslet, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, said that we strongly denounce “every act that targets civilians, anywhere, and without any exception. We extend our condolences to the families of the victims and wish the wounded speedy recovery.” The Syrian Coalition calls on the European Union leaders to put the Assad regime on the terrorism list during their upcoming meeting which will be held on February 12th, 2015 to discuss how to respond to the challenges presented by terrorism. Salim al-Meslet, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, said that “the Assad regime’s record in overseeing and building of terrorist cells and organizations is very well documented by global and human rights networks. The world should no longer turn a blind eye to Assad’s two-pronged terrorism, one internal using barrel bombs and chemical weapons, and the other external through recruiting and training of extremists in secret camps on Syrian territory.” Meslet cited the Assad regime’s grand Mufti Ahmed Hassoun who said that “we have sleeper cells ready to suicidal operations in Europe and the United States.” Meslet also stresses that “the international community’s ignoring of Assad’s role in manufacturing of extremist organization such as ISIS has had catastrophic consequences on Syria and the entire region.” “We reiterate our strong condemnation of all terrorist acts that target innocent civilians or seek to silence the voice of dissent, impose certain political views, or to restrict freedom of expression.” The Syrian Coalition has condemned the terrorist attack against the headquarters of the Charlie Hebdo newspaper in Paris, expressing solidarity with the families of the victims.
