Political committee members met with representatives of civil society organizations on Monday to discuss de Mistura’s proposal and other initiatives for a political solution in Syria.
This committee will organize regular meetings to reach a unified vision on de Mistura’s plan adopted by the UN Security Council in mid-August.
The meeting also tabled discussions about a proposed entry and exit mechanism for Turkey border crossings and when to reopen them for humanitarian and relief organizations.
Vice President Nagham al-Ghadiri stresses the need to reach out to civil society organizations and coordinate on a permanent basis to reach a unified vision on the majority of issues. She said that “we must cooperate to serve the interests of Syria and the Syrian Revolution and achieve the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom and dignity and to hold criminals led by Bashar al-Assad and his gang to account.
