The Syrian Coalition’s political committee held its first meeting after it was elected by the General Assembly in its last meeting which concluded on July 9. The agenda of the meeting included the election of the secretary of the Political Committee and reviewing of the political and field reports. The meeting also discussed an action plan for the next phase, and the distribution of tasks and functions among the members for the implementation of this plan. The conferees reviewed the results of the meetings of the Friends of the Syrian people group, and also discussed ways to reduce the tension caused by hosting the Syrian refugees, particularly in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Egypt. Moreover, it was suggested to visit the refugee camps in the neighboring countries and spend Eid with them to provide them with all means of support, and conduct meetings with them to listen to their problems. The conferees reviewed the reports submitted by the President and, the Secretary General and the available committees. They also discussed developing the institutions of the Syrian Coalition and re-defining its objectives and modus operandi. It is worth noting that the General Assembly will convene on Sunday and Monday to discuss the relationship between the Syrian Coalition and the interim government and also to discuss the proposed amendments to the bylaws of the Syrian Coalition.
