A Syrian Coalition delegation headed by President Khaled Khoja arrived today in the People’s Republic of China in a visit that will last till next Thursday. The delegation includes members of the political committee Fuad Aliko and Abdul Ahad Steifou.
The delegation will meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss the peace plan endorsed in a UN Security Council resolution. Tabled for discussions also are field and political measures to lay the ground for a political solution, such as allowing the immediate delivery of relief aid to besieged areas, reaching a cease-fire, stopping barrel bombing and the release of detainees.
Commenting on the visit, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying said: “We believe that it is imperative to implement UN resolutions and realize a ceasefire and peace talks at an early date. We hope that all relevant parties would make constructive efforts to find a political approach to the Syrian issue at an early date.” (Source: Syrian Coalition + Agencies)
