A delegation from the Syrian Coalition met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and President Putin’s special envoy to the Middle East and North Africa Mikhail Bogdanov at the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow on Thursday.
The Coalition’s delegation included Vice-president Abdul-Ahad Steifo and members of the Coalition’s political committee Hadi Bahra and Badr Jamous. The two sides discussed the latest political developments in Syria and international efforts to resume the political process in Geneva as well as efforts to bolster the ceasefire.
They also discussed the invitation sent by Russia to the Coalition’s President Anas Abdah to visit Moscow and meet with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other Russian officials in the coming days.
The Coalition’s delegation reiterated commitment to the political process as they reaffirmed the Syrian people’s demands for freedom and dignity as well as for achieving a political transition in accordance with the Geneva Communiqué of 2012 and the relevant international resolutions, especially resolution 2254 of 2015.
