The Syrian Coalition condemns the abduction of Father Jacob Murad, abbot of Monastery of Saint Moses the Abyssinian, and head of the Mar Elian Monastery in the town of Al-Qarytein in Homs province. He was abducted from his residence in the monastery of Mar Elian on Thursday, May 21st
The Syrian Coalition calls for the immediate release of Jacob and all abductees in Syria, stressing that “sooner or later justice will reach all those responsible for kidnappings and intimidation all across Syria.” It calls on the Syrian people to stand united in the face of every party that seeks to provoke sectarian strife or undermine co-existence.
The Syrian Coalition also calls on rebel factions “to protect civilians and neutralize them in the ongoing fighting.
It is worth noting that Father Jacob Murad was born in Aleppo and devoted his life to spread love, peace and the consolidation of brotherhood, tolerance, justice and coexistence among all spectrums of the Syrian social fabric. He has adopted dialogue for several years along with his colleague in the monastery Father Paolo Dall’Oglio who was kidnapped ISIS in the city of Raqqa on July 29, 2013. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
