Mohammad Khair Al-Wazir, member of the political committee, said that the alarm being sounded by rebel factions in Deir Ezzor, that warns of the imminent fall of the province to ISIS if they don’t receive the much needed arms, is a last chance warning for the international community to take practical steps towards helping the moderate Syrian rebels hold off escalating attacks by ISIS.” Rebel factions fighting ISIS in Deir Ezzor said that they would quit the fight against this extremist organization if they did not receive the necessary weapons. Al-Wazir questions the will of the international community to fight terrorism, as it has let down the Syrian people in the battle against ISIS which was created by the dictatorial regimes to disrupt the popular uprisings in the region. The only solution to the subject of terrorism is in supporting the under-resourced mainstream rebels and in the unification of the sources of support to be channeled through the Syrian Coalition.” Omar Abu Leila, spokesperson of the Eastern Front, said that “if the international community is serious about exterminating ISIS, it must help the moderate rebels topple the Assad regime or force it to comply with the demands of the Syrian people, as the survival of ISIS depends on the survival of Assad who is the sole beneficiary of ISIS. We warned the U.S. Senator John McCain when we met him of the dire consequences of the international community’s reluctance to support the Syrian rebels, who were the first to respond to the threat imposed by ISIS not only on Syria but the whole region and the world. ISIS’s latest surge in Iraq gave it a sizable impetus to step up its attacks on rebel-held areas in eastern Syria.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
