Hadi Al Bahra, President of the Syrian Coalition, said that “toppling the Assad regime is the sole guarantor of democratic transition and putting an end to terrorism in Syria and the region,” during a meeting with Nabil al-Arabi, Secretary General of the Arab League. “Combatting terrorism requires eliminating its underlying causes and giving real support for the Free Syrian Army to fight both the Assad regime and ISIS. Despite the meager support the FSA is receiving, they have been putting up a heroic fight against the cancer of terrorism that is sweeping the region.” Nasr al-Hariri, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition, stresses the need for an international will to get rid of Assad, and that the fight against terrorism in isolation from the fight against the Assad regime and the sectarian militias imported from Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon, will not solve the problem but will consolidate the bloody conflict and turmoil in Syria and the region.” During a speech delivered yesterday during the meeting of the Arab foreign ministers in Mauritania, Bahra called for adopting a resolution that forces Bashar al-Assad to step down and hand over power to a transitional governing body in accordance with the Geneva I Communique. “We have made it very clear since the outset that to restore security and stability in Syria and to eliminate the threat of extremism, a transitional governing body with full executive powers must be formed and a transitional phase must be launched, especially with the exacerbation and spillover of terrorism to neighboring countries.
